A BENEFIT cheat has been jailed for three months for conning Redbridge Council out of £34,000.
Tanveer Sethi of Audley Gardens, Ilford, illegally claimed council tax and housing benefits for four years from October 1999.
After a long investigation following an annonymous tip off, Sethi was found to be the guardian of his landlord's son and therefore not obliged to pay housing costs.
Sethi pleaded not guiltily at Snaresbrook Crown Court to five counts of deception but was convicted of them all.
