LEYTONSTONE Film Club begins its monthly programme of screenings with the Oscar winning movie The Counterfeiters, on Wednesday September 10, 7.30pm at Leytonstone Library, 6 Church Lane Leytonstone, London  E11 1HG.

They will hold screenings on the first Wednesday of the month starting with The Counterfeiters on September 10 and continuing with award-winning Iranian film Persepolis on October 1. Screenings commence at 7.30pm.

The Counterfeiters is a stylishly shot Oscar-winning true story of Salomon Sorowitsch, counterfeiter extraordinaire and bohemian who was in captured by the Nazis in 1944. He agrees to help the Nazis in an organized counterfeiting operation set up to finance the war effort. It was the biggest counterfeit-money scam of all time.

For the Counterfeiters, it was not only a question of saving their own lives, but also about saving their conscience as well.
